Meet the Board of Governors
Leith Hunter (Chair). This is Leith Hunter's fourth year as chair of the board of governors. Her daughter went to the school from grade 3 to grade 8 and is currently in university. Leith is a lawyer who works for the provincial government where she specializes in law related to wildlife and water. Leith loves Montcrest and has a huge respect for its faculty and staff.
Wayne McDougall (Treasurer) Wayne is pleased to be involved and is happy to contribute to the school where his two daughters are thrilled to be attending, one in Grade 6 and another in grade 3. Wayne is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Planner and his practice focuses in providing accounting and taxation services to entrepreneurial clientele.
Ken Klassen (Secretary). Ken Klassen serves a Montcrest Governor and Board Secretary. Ken is a corporate lawyer specializing in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Ken also regularly advices public company boards on governance matters. Ken and Helen are the proud parents of a son, who first entered Montcrest in grade 1 and is now in grade 5.
Paul Atkinson. Paul is Managing Director of Southwest Sun Inc., a private investment firm with interests in Technology, Automotive and Leisure industries. Paul is on the board of TIFF and is an advisory board member of The Richard Ivey School of Business Administration. In his spare time Paul enjoys skiing with his family and cycling.
Alison Chapman. Alison has two children at Montcrest and joined the board in 2009. Alison has an MSc in Environmental Planning from the London School of Economics. Presently enjoying being a stay at home mum, she has spent her career in the environmental field, from policy to campaigning and most recently as the Director of Development for Environmental Defence.
John Cook. John joined the board in October of 2008 and sits on the property committee. He and Sarah have had two children at Montcrest since 2003. John is currently President of Investeco Financial Corp. an environmental investment firm. Prior to joining Investeco, John was President and Chief Operating Officer of MaRS Discovery District. He has also held executive positions at Aim Trimark and BPI Financial Corp.
Randy Gangbar. Randy is a past parent (two children went through the school), one child spent the last two years in the LD class. Randy is a psychiatrist with an interest in families, is in private practice, teaches at U of T, and consults to two Children's Mental Health agencies. He loves to paddle in his spare time.
Shuchi Stanger. Shuchi is an economics teacher who is presently home raising her two children. Her son is in SK and her attended Montcrest until grade 5.
David Thompson. David is a graduate of Queens University in
Education and the University of Windsor in Law. He taught at
Lakefield College School for eight years, ran the Norval Outdoor
School at Upper Canada College, and practiced law for nine years in
Toronto, and was the Assistant Head of the Upper School at Upper
Canada College. He was the founding Principal of Greenwood College
School and has been Head of Lakefield College School since 2008. He
spends part of each summer canoeing in the Northwest Territories or
Yukon. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons who both attended
Montcrest.
