I am excited to share with you the research project that I have been working on over the past year and a half at Montcrest. The pictures that are included with this article show some of the outdoor learning activities that the students have been enjoying.
The full study and the executive summary of my research are intended to have a twofold purpose and can be found at the links below:
• The first is to describe staff perspectives of the current state of nature-based learning at Montcrest, identifying supports and barriers to further integrating nature in the school curriculum and programming in order to share with other schools and educational communities.
• The second is to provide a baseline from which to improve our own efficacy with nature-based learning.
In many ways this study is opening up the conversation within Montcrest and with the broader educational community. If you’re interested in discussing Outdoor Education in greater detail, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
